SEND OUT PACKAGE

Packages should be in the mail or be hand delivered.

In case you have been matched to someone who resides in the same city as you, after coordinating with your giftee you may choose to deliver the package yourself instead of posting it. Just ensure that the package reaches your giftee before Eid.

PACKAGE CONTENTS

Gift as you would like to be gifted.

  • Total number of items should be between 6-10.
  • Include a minimum of two homemade items, with each item having enough quantity for 4 people to sample comfortably.
  • If you cannot commit to sending at least two homemade items, please do NOT sign up for the swap.
  • No restaurant food to be delivered.
  • Give thoughtfully and pack a box that you would be excited to open.
  • The packages should have a value of $25-40 including home cooking, which of course is priceless. Value your homemade goods highly!

WHAT TO SEND YOUR GIFTEE

Check out the giftee’s instagram account for ideas of what they would like & enjoy.

Those delivering locally can send absolutely anything they please as long as it complies with the preferences told.

Those shipping out a box - anything you can (safely!) ship is fair game: Baked goods? Chutneys? Spice mixes? Marinades? Local specialties? Family favorite recipes? A few recipe suggestions for all the goodies? Yes! Yes! Yes!

COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR GIFTEE

Communicate, communicate, communicate!

All the participants have a phone number and an email of their giftees. Please use both of them to keep your giftee in the loop.

For those doing a porch drop off, coordinate with your giftee for a time, date and place for drop off.

For those posting a package, please keep your giftee in the loop by providing them with the tracking number, updating them with the status of your package and communicating with them for any possible delays.

SHARE YOUR EXCITEMENT

When you receive your package, share the excitement on Instagram and other social media.

Do tag @eidfoodswap (don’t forget to use the hashtag #eidfoodswap & #eidfoodswap2022), or email them to eidfoodswap@gmail.com so I can share them on Instagram.

THANK YOUR GIFTER

Please please please, remember your manners!

I cannot emphasize this enough. A great swap can be ruined when a gifter doesn't hear any thanks back from their giftee. Thank your gifter and let them know the package arrived in one piece. This makes all the difference.

In this vein, please include some way for your giftee to contact you (a legible return address, your email, or whatever mode of communication you’re comfortable with) so they can properly thank you and let you know the package arrived safely.

If you don't get a package, let us know and we will try our best to contact your gifter and help track it down.
